A picture is worth a thousand words.

Lately, I have been obsessed with infographics. I wonder why we have not taken up the tool of infographics to share our information more readily to everyone. After all, clinical and medical information isn’t exactly easy to digest, let alone to integrate into every day practice.

Then I discover that ICES (Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences) have developed many infographics to share some of the latest research findings. I have attached here one of my favourites.

The message is loud and clear – seniors with dementia often do not receive rehabilitation following their surgeries for hip fractures and they are often associated with worse outcomes a year later.

So what’s next? Perhaps look into the reasons, various obstacles and challenges.

The message resonates a sense of urgency to hopefully stimulate further actions. We should be utilizing infographics to help deliver messages in ways to help us transform our health care system… more quickly.
